The app tracks, displays and, at your option, alerts you to the daily regulatory activities of the Federal Communications Commission as they occur, including: News Releases, the Daily Digest, Late releases, Blog postings, and Docket filings.
There is a free service tier and a full service tier. - the Free Service includes FCC News Releases; - the Full Service includes News Releases, the Daily Digest, Late releases, Blog postings, and unlimited Docket tracking. The subscription price is $29.99 per month after a two-week free trial.
Information provided by the app is obtained exclusively from the FCC’s publicly available website and databases. TheDCOffice, Inc. and FCC Alerts by The DC Office® have no affiliation or contractual relationship with the FCC or any other government agency.
An Android version of FCC Alerts by The DC Office® is under development. A launch date has not been set.
By default, the app sends you sound and visual notifications whenever new information is added to any of the app’s content categories. Notifications can be turned on or off for each category by touching the “Settings” icon at the bottom of the screen, right side, and adjusting the “Push Notifications” switches displayed there.
To refresh a screen, pull downward using your finger tip.
Some FCC actions have more than one document associated with them, such as a main document with separate appendices, or an Order or Notice with Commissioners’ statements presented separately. The app presents all of the associated documents by displaying the same title for each, with the notice (multi-part) in the title to indicate the association.
To cancel your paid subscription at any time, touch the “Settings” icon at the bottom of the screen, right side, and then touch the “Full Service” line under the word ACCOUNT. On the “Your Subscription” page, touch the “Cancel Subscription” link and follow the instructions. If you cancel in mid-month, the service will remain available to you for the remainder of the one-month period for which you have already paid. The subscription will not automatically renew after that.
Simply remove the app icon from your screen as you would any other app icon. Press the icon with your finger until it begins to vibrate, then touch the X that appears on the image. The Free Service can be reinstalled anytime by retrieving it from the App Store.
Touch the Dockets icon at the bottom of the screen, second from left. Enter the docket number only for the docket you seek in the “Search for dockets …” window at the top of the screen. For example, to find WC 18-15 enter 18-15; to find RM-11789 enter 11789. Touch the docket name when it appears to slide to the screen for that docket. To add this docket to the list of your tracked dockets, touch the word “Track” in the upper right corner of the screen. A notice appears that confirms the selection.
To remove a docket from your list of tracked dockets, touch the Dockets icon at the bottom of the screen, scroll down your list of tracked dockets to find the one you wish to remove, swipe the title to the left, and touch the “Untrack” badge that appears. A notice appears that confirms the removal.
There is no limit. Add as many dockets to your tracking list as you like.
Yes. You can view, bookmark, and forward public filings in any docket at any time. Select the docket of interest as explained above, touch the docket name to slide right, and search and view the filings. This docket will not be added to your list of tracked dockets if you do not touch the “Track” link in the upper right corner of the screen.
Yes. There is a search window at the top of the screen on which public filings are displayed for any given docket. Enter your search term there.
To add a docket filing to your list of bookmarked filings, touch the “Dockets” tab on the top right side of “The Latest” screen to display the list of dockets you are tracking. Touch the docket of interest to display the list of public filings in the docket. Touch the title of the filing you wish to view. To add the filing to your list of bookmarked filings, touch the bookmark icon at the top of the screen. A notice appears that confirms that the filing has been added to your list of bookmarked filings.
Touch the Bookmark icon at the bottom of the screen, second from right. Your list of bookmarked filings will display. Touch a bookmark title that you wish to review, then touch the PDF link in the FCC record displayed to open the filing. To remove a bookmark, swipe the bookmark title to the left and touch the “Delete” badge that appears.
Docket filings marked by the FCC as “Express Filings” are included by default in the filings sent to the app for the dockets you are tracking. To exclude Express Filings, touch the “Settings” icon at the bottom of the screen, right side, and deactivate the “Include Express Filings” switch.
“404 Page Not Found” and “Gateway timeout” are default messages posted at a link’s destination when a document or page is not present at the link address presented in the app. Occasionally the FCC will post a link that the app finds before the FCC puts the target document or page in place. Most often these situations self-correct and the target is found when the link in the app is tried again after a period of time.
